5-8 Counseling
Hello Hilburn Family! Welcome to our page for the upper grade levels at Hilburn! On this page, you will find helpful resources on topics related to your students' experiences, a general overview of classroom guidance, and a list of upcoming events. Please be on the lookout for more frequent updates in our monthly newsletters or follow me on Twitter: @HACounselorMrsG!
September Highlights:
Small groups: 5th-8th Graders who are new to Hilburn are participating in New Student Lunch Bunches. They are using the Kahoot app for some Hilburn trivia and leaving with a bookmark with the names of "helpful Hawks" and hopefully leaving with some new friends and knowledge! Welcome New Hawks!
Lessons: 6th Grade students enjoyed the first ever Hilburn Hawkapalooza event! This event was a team effort between Admin. and the 6th grade team. I enjoyed teaching our 6th graders about Study Skills, using a humorous (yet relevant) emoji lesson. We are ready for a smooth transition into the middle grades! A fun handout with reminders can be found here: backtoschool_study_skills.pdf
Positivity Project: In recognition of Hilburn's movement towards Positivity Project, you can find some positive affirmations and compliments posted throughout the school. Staff members are being encouraged to share these affirmations and model "paying it forward" and community for our students! Feel free to steal this idea for home! The free tear off printable can be found here: hey_you_you_matter.pdf
